Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Mahjong Station ("we", "us") collects when you use www.mahjongstation.com and its games (Pet Mahjong and the Mahjong Coach), why we collect it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

Information you give us

• Account details: your email address, a nickname and your password (stored only as a salted hash). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google.
• Waitlist sign-ups: your email address, the game you want to hear about and your language, so we can email you when it opens. We ask you to confirm the address first.
• Messages: what you write to us through the contact form, together with your email address so we can reply.
• Feedback: if you rate a coach suggestion, the position and your reason. Free-text notes stay on your device.

Information collected automatically

• Game progress and settings are saved in your browser's local storage (for example your current board, collected postcards, coach history and preferences). They stay on your device unless you sign in, in which case some are synced to your account.
• An anonymous device identifier (a random ID in local storage) so we can count daily players without knowing who you are.
• Usage events, such as "round started", "hint used" or "tutorial completed", with your language, the page and the app version. We never put your email or other contact details into these events.
• Technical data your browser sends with every request: IP address, browser type and approximate country. We use the country to decide which privacy choices to show; we do not store your IP address with your events.

How we use it

• To run the games and keep your progress (contract / legitimate interest).
• To keep your account secure, for example by limiting repeated failed sign-ins (legitimate interest).
• To understand which features help people learn and to fix problems (legitimate interest, or consent where the law requires it).
• To show advertising that keeps the games free (consent for personalized ads where required).
• To send the emails you ask for: waitlist confirmations and launch notices, account emails, and replies to your messages (consent / contract).

We do not sell your personal information for money. We do not use your data to make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use browser storage that is strictly necessary for the site to work (sign-in, settings, game progress). With your permission, we also use:

• Analytics: Google Analytics 4, to measure how the site is used.
• Advertising: Google (H5 Games Ads / AdSense) and AppLixir may use cookies or device identifiers to show and measure ads, and — if you allow it — to personalize them.

In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics cookies and personalized ads stay off until you accept them in the cookie banner. If you reject them you can still play; you may see non-personalized ads. You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page.

Service providers

We share information only with providers that help us run the service, under contracts that limit how they may use it:

Payments are processed by Creem (creem.io), our reseller and merchant of record, under its own privacy policy. Creem and its payment processors receive your payment details and billing address; we receive your email, country, plan and payment status, and never see or store your full card number.

Some providers process data in the United States and other countries. Where the law requires it, transfers are covered by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard.

How long we keep it

• Usage events: up to 90 days, after which only daily totals remain.
• Waitlist emails: until the game launches and we have told you, or until you unsubscribe.
• Contact messages: as long as needed to answer you, and no longer than 24 months.
• Accounts: until you delete your account. Local game data stays in your browser until you clear it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, to object to or restrict certain uses, and to withdraw consent at any time. To make a request, email [email protected]. We will answer within the time the law allows (usually one month). You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

California and other US states: you have the right to know what we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Use the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link at the bottom of every page, or turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser — we treat it as an opt-out. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.

Children

Mahjong Station is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Accounts are for people aged 13 or older. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact [email protected] and we will delete it. Ad requests from our site are not marked as directed to children.

Security

We use HTTPS everywhere, hash passwords, limit sign-in attempts and restrict who can access our systems. No online service is perfectly secure, so please use a password you do not use elsewhere.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change is significant we will tell you on the site, and ask again for your consent where the law requires it.
